Released under the Marvel Spotlight banner on Disney+, the series offers a meta, satirical look at the Marvel Cinematic Universe through the lens of Hollywood. Simon Williams is a struggling actor with secret superhuman abilities who auditions for the lead role in a high-budget remake of a fictional film titled Wonder Man. Along the way, he strikes up an unlikely friendship with Trevor Slattery (the "fake Mandarin" from Iron Man 3), who acts as a mentor of sorts. The show explores the "Doorman Clause," a legal ban on superpowered individuals working in Hollywood, forcing Simon to navigate his rising fame while hiding his destructive powers from the Department of Damage Control. It features cameos from real-life actors like Josh Gad and Joe Pantoliano playing fictionalized versions of themselves.
