Set in Dongargaon, Maharashtra, Sthal follows Savita, a young woman whose dreams of education and a career are overshadowed by her familys quest to arrange her marriage. The film exposes the patriarchy and harsh realities of rural matchmaking: repeated humiliations, judgments based on color, caste, and social standing, and the immense pressure women face. Sthal has been critically acclaimed for its authenticity, direction, and strong performances by its cast of first-time actors.
